How does Invisalign First work?
During a process we refer to as dental arch expansion, we use Invisalign First aligners to expand and contour your child's jawline. We do this by applying gradual pressure to the teeth over an extended period of time, with the goal of increasing the width of their dental arch.
To begin, you will meet your dentist for a consultation at our office to find out whether your child is a candidate for Invisalign First.
Custom-Made Aligners Prepared for Your Child
If we move ahead, the orthodontist will take pictures, x-rays and digital impressions of your child's teeth, jaws and mouth. The impressions and images will then be sent to a laboratory where the custom clear aligners will be created for your child.
Once the aligners are prepared, your child will come for an appointment at our office to fit the aligners to their teeth.
While they are being treated, the aligners will shift your child's teeth into their corrected positions. Depending on your child's specific needs and misalignment, they may need just one aligner or a pair of aligners (to fit both the upper and lower jaw of teeth).
