Our orthodontists at SmileTown Orthodontics Braces & Invisalign provide insights and information about orthodontic treatment for teens. Invisalign for Teens is an orthodontic treatment option designed to meet the unique needs of today’s busy teenagers.
Invisalign is a series of removable, clear plastic orthodontic aligners that are a convenient and aesthetically pleasing alternative to regular metal braces. Invisalign is designed to straighten teeth, fix gaps in between teeth, and correct structural problems. Invisalign created their Teen line to remove the barriers teens tend to associate with orthodontic treatment and Invisalign.
Invisalign for Teens has extra features to address the orthodontic treatment challenges of busy teenagers and can be prescribed for younger teens whose adult teeth have not quite finished surfacing. The goal is to make it easier for teenagers to stay on track with their treatment schedule, and to accommodate their growing smiles.
We have highlighted a few important features included with Invisalign Teen aligners.
Compliance Indicators
Teen patients tend to frequently remove their aligners for longer periods of time than adult patients. Designed with the specific daily needs of teens in mind, compliance indicators help to support teens to stay on track with their treatment plan.
Invisalign for teens compliance indicators are small blue dots on the aligners that gradually fade over two weeks of full-time wear. This means if the patient gets off track with their treatment, they can easily pick back up where they left off and know how much longer they need to wear the current set of aligners.
Replacement Aligners
Since teens are more likely to remove their aligners than adults are, teens are more likely to misplace or damage their aligners. That's why Invisalign for teens comes with six sets of replacement aligners so they can stay on track with their treatment.
Eruption Tabs
Invisalign for teens has eruption tabs that provide just the right amount of space for new adult teeth to grow in. This feature provides room for the adult teeth to grow in and gently guides them into their correct positions.
